Ms. Dankay Koroma, the daughter of former President Ernest Bai Koroma, has been added to the list of declared-sought fugitives maintained by the Sierra Leone Police.
The Sierra Leone Police Department issued an updated list today in reference to the failed coup attempt on November 26th, 2023.
Dankay fled Sierra Leone after the 2018 elections, allegedly involved in the assassination of journalist Ibrahim Samura. In 2021, a jury gave a not guilty finding in the murder case, and two people on trial were acquitted and dismissed.
Ms. Koroma is currently staying in the United Kingdom, according to sources.
Her father, the former president, was also summoned to the police station for questioning regarding the failed coup attempt.
His summons comes after the arrest of his former security guard, Amadu Koita, who is currently being held by police.
The development followed the Nov. 26 attack in Sierra Leone’s capital of Freetown by dozens of gunmen, who smashed into the country’s primary armory and the Pademba Road prison.
Around 18 personnel were killed in the attack, while around 2,000 detainees were released.
Over 50 people, including military officers, have been apprehended, and many more have been proclaimed wanted.
