Gambiaj.com – (KINSHASA, DR. Congo) – President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, held what officials described as fruitful talks with two special envoys of Gambian President Adama Barrow at the African Union City in Kinshasa.

The Gambian delegation comprised Amadou Jagne, Special Envoy, and Kami Kashama, the owner of Mega Bank, who is also an Itinerant Ambassador.

During the meeting, the envoys presented President Tshisekedi with the report of the most recent Forum of Operators for the Guarantee of Economic Emergence in Africa (FOGECA), which took place in Dubai from December 18 to 20, 2025, under the theme “Invest in Africa, Invest in Dubai.”

According to the envoys, participants at the forum resolved to confer an award on President Tshisekedi in recognition of his efforts to promote peace and his role in advancing economic integration across the African continent.

The award is expected to be presented during the upcoming African Union Summit scheduled for February 14–15.

FOGECA is an Africa-focused economic platform aimed at stimulating growth in key sectors, including infrastructure, mining, energy, agriculture, fishing, trade, and crafts. The forum also places strong emphasis on poverty reduction and the empowerment of disadvantaged groups.

Its objectives closely align with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which seeks to foster continental integration, a unified African market, and increased intra-African trade.

During the discussions, the Gambian envoys also formally requested that Kinshasa host an African investment forum planned for June 2026, underscoring the DRC’s growing profile as a hub for continental economic dialogue.
