Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR, Senegal) – Adama Faye, brother of former First Lady Marième Faye Sall and leader of the “Defar sa gox” Coalition, has publicly claimed that financial disagreements lie at the core of the dispute between Senegal’s former President Macky Sall and his one-time Prime Minister Amadou Ba. Speaking candidly on the popular Sen Tv program “Les Grandes Gueules,” Faye alleged that both men had clashed over money-related issues during Sall’s presidency.

I know the source of the problem between Macky Sall and Amadou Ba. It’s all about money,” Faye remarked, adding that “if you are a President who seeks to enrich yourself through questionable financial means, you’ll have conflicts if a minister appears to be even more money-hungry.” Faye asserted that the former president shared this frustration with him directly.

Recalling an incident from before 2020, Faye recounted a situation involving a foreign businessman who had failed to fulfill a contract but faced no legal consequences.

Faye said he confronted this businessman, who owed him for a private service, and that during the encounter, the businessman handed him a watch intended for Macky Sall. According to Faye, he delivered the watch to Sall, who dismissed any concerns about its authenticity, insisting the businessman was trustworthy.

I later learned from Macky Sall that Amadou Ba had promised me 10 billion but only delivered a portion of the funds. This discrepancy raised red flags about the legality of the money involved,” Faye continued. He expressed his disillusionment, stating, “I left his home without going back because I know that this money is not legal. It’s the taxpayer’s money.”

Faye also touched upon broader issues of accountability, referencing Cheikh Yérim Seck’s comments on unpunished contracts and unfulfilled promises by awarded individuals. This lack of prosecution, according to Faye, contributes to the mistrust and ongoing conflict.

The tension between Macky Sall and Amadou Ba reportedly intensified when Sall sent an emissary to Ba, cautioning him about the existence of incriminating files. In retaliation, Ba responded by asserting that he also possesses Sall’s files, escalating the personal and political stakes of their rivalry.

Concluding his remarks, Faye highlighted the broader implications of the dispute, suggesting that financial improprieties are not just personal disagreements but reflect deeper systemic issues within the government’s handling of public funds.

These explosive allegations cast new light on the rift between Sall and Ba, highlighting how financial grievances may have fueled political fallout. The interview has sparked widespread interest in Senegal, with some calling for further investigation into the claims.
