Gambiaj.com (KATOWICE), Poland – A Senegalese migrant, who gained notoriety in the Valley of the Three Ponds in Katowice, was forcibly expelled from Poland on Wednesday, August 21. The deportation followed a controversial incident in July, where the man was filmed relieving himself in a public swimming pond, sparking a media storm.
The migrant, whose identity has not been disclosed, was apprehended by officers from the Sosnowiec Border Guard Station. The July incident, captured on video and widely circulated online, showed the man naked, entering a swimming pool in Katowice squatting, and relieving himself in full view of other bathers.
The disturbing footage quickly circulated on social media, causing outrage among the public and drawing attention to the migrant’s presence in the country.
According to the Sosnowiec Border Guard, the Senegalese national was first arrested in September 2023 for illegally residing in Poland. During his detention, he refused to cooperate with authorities, declined to sign documents, and exhibited erratic behavior.
Authorities indicated that his prolonged stay posed potential threats to life or health due to psychiatric concerns. Despite receiving social, medical, and psychological assistance, the man rejected the aid, choosing instead to live in a makeshift cabin near the Katowice bus station.
In November 2023, the Sosnowiec border guard commander issued an order for the migrant to leave Poland and banned him from returning to the Schengen area for three years. However, the man ignored the expulsion order and continued to reside in Poland illegally. His continued presence in the country came to a head with the public pool incident, which became the final catalyst for his deportation.
On August 21, the migrant’s story came to an end when border guards detained him again. According to Lieutenant Mościcki, the man was unable to produce any identity documents or proof of legal residency in Poland, leading to his immediate deportation.
This case has drawn significant attention due to the public nature of the incident and the subsequent legal actions taken by Polish authorities. It also underscores the challenges of managing illegal immigration and ensuring public order in the face of such disturbances.
