Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The National Coordinator General of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) under the leadership of Fabakary Tombong Jatta, Bakso Jaiteh, has issued a stern warning to the breakaway faction loyal to former President Yahya Jammeh.
In an audio message addressed to party militants, Jaiteh urged members to remain calm and steadfast despite what he described as “relentless attacks and insults” from the Jammeh-led faction.
“For the past eight years, they have been insulting Fabakary Tombong Jatta, insulting me and my parents. God knows that all their allegations are false, that I am a betrayer, or that I use APRC militants,” Jaiteh said. “I have always respected Yahya Jammeh and the position he once occupied in this country, but in return, he continues to fuel these insults and false claims against us.”
Jaiteh defended the leadership of Speaker Fabakary Tombong Jatta, describing him as “an elderly statesman who deserves respect.”
He emphasized that Fabakary Tombong Jatta, had worked tirelessly to keep the APRC alive after Jammeh’s departure, saying, “When Jammeh left this country, we made sure the party remained resilient and survived, while many of his people fled to Casamance and built houses there. Now they have the guts to insult us.”
Taking aim at Jammeh’s repeated claims of a return to The Gambia, Jaiteh said, “For the past eight years, he has been pushing the false narrative that he is coming back, but he never does.”
Jaiteh further accused Jammeh of orchestrating spiritual attacks against APRC leaders through marabouts and jalangs, alleging that the former president was “aware of all the spiritual work done against the APRC leadership.”
He warned that Jammeh’s actions would have consequences and that “the Gambian people are watching.”
Declaring that “enough is enough,” Jaiteh reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, vowing that he and his colleagues “will never betray or disappoint APRC.”
“Yahya Jammeh has tried everything to undermine us, but he has failed because God is with us,” Jaiteh concluded. “With God’s support, Jammeh will always fail in his attempts to discredit us.”
