Armed Robbers Attack Farafenni GNPC, Injure Police Officer

Gambiaj.com – (Farafenni, North Bank Region) – In the early hours of Monday, January 13, 2025, armed robbers launched a brazen attack on the GNPC station in Farafenni, targeting police officers stationed at the site.

According to the Gambia Police Force (GPF), the attackers opened fire on two officers from the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) who were on duty at the time. One officer sustained injuries during the assault but demonstrated remarkable courage by returning fire, engaging the robbers in a bid to thwart their attack.

The injured officer is currently receiving medical treatment, while investigations are actively underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

In a statement, the GPF reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering security in the region, emphasizing that efforts are being intensified to ensure justice is served. The force also pledged to provide regular updates as the investigation progresses.
