Arrest Made in Western Union Robbery, Suspect Confesses and Leads Police to Stolen Money

Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – The police have arrested Ismaila Faye from Bassori, a suspect linked to a robbery at a Western Union bureau in Farato Bojang Kunda on April 17. Faye allegedly disguised himself as a customer, threatened an employee with a knife, and fled with D75,126 after binding and gagging the victim.

Faye was apprehended after a thorough investigation led authorities to his whereabouts. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and led police to his residence, where D28,106 was found.

He admitted to spending a significant amount of the stolen money on construction materials, including cement, sand, and gravel.

Further searches recovered a knife used in the robbery and the victim’s two mobile phones. He is currently being held in custody pending further questioning and a trial.

Police believe that Faye may have been involved in other similar crimes and are continuing their investigation to gather more evidence against him.
