Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – Augustine Bangura, the Sierra Leonean national accused of killing Shakina Chinedu, a Nigerian born British national, appeared on Thursday before the High Court in Banjul, presided over by Justice Ebrima Jaiteh, to face charges of theft and murder.
The prosecution alleged that on February 14, 2024, Bangura caused the death of Shakina Chinedu by hitting her with a hammer at the back of her neck, resulting in her demise.
Additionally, the prosecution claimed that Bangura stole D80,000.00 in cash, two laptops, a flash drive, a tablet, keys, a Canon camera, banks, and correspondence cards from Chinedu’s apartment.
Following a thorough investigation and search by the police, Chinedu’s body was discovered inside a septic tank, and some of the stolen items were recovered.
Bangura pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case was adjourned to April 29, 2024, for further proceedings.
