Barcelona have been watching one Newcastle United player with a keen eye this month as they look to prepare for a busy summer window. A new report from Spanish pro-Barcelona newspaper Mundo Deportivo has claimed that Barcelona have been watching over Newcastle loanee Yankuba Minteh who is currently at Feyenoord but has recently been playing at the AFCON with The Gambia.
Newcastle have placed a huge emphasis on developing the best young talent from around the world and promoting them to the first team ever since the takeover was confirmed and Dan Ashworth was hired.
Minteh was one of the first potential young stars to be signed, as he arrived at Newcastle in the summer from Odense for just under £6m and was immediately sent out on loan.
While at the Dutch club, Minteh has had a taste of first-team football in a top European division as well as Champions League football, where he made four appearances and scored one goal.
Across the course of the season, the Newcastle youngster has recorded a total of six goal contributions despite not being a definite starter for Arne Slot, who described the 19-year-old as ‘really impressive‘.
