The Barrow Government has reinforced its commitment to enhancing the country’s health infrastructure by inaugurating the Alkali Nyakudi Health Centre in Jali village, Kiang West. This initiative is part of the broader goal of providing all-inclusive health services across rural Gambia.
The new health centre, warmly welcomed by the local community, boasts a range of modern facilities designed to improve healthcare delivery. The centre includes:
1. Examination room
2. Two labour rooms
3. Antenatal room with three beds
4. Post-natal room with three beds
5. Counselling room
6. Reception
7. Office
8. Store
9. Male ward with four beds
10. Female ward with four beds
11. Paediatric ward with four beds
12. Waiting room
13. Immunisation and birth registration room
14. Laboratory
15. Out-patient department (OPD 2)
This development aligns with the Barrow Government’s National Development Plan (NDP) – YIRIWA Programme, aimed at enhancing healthcare services nationwide.
President Barrow lauded the efforts of Health Minister Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh and his team for their dedication in realizing this vision. He emphasized that maintaining and ensuring the cleanliness of the facility now rests on the shoulders of the officers in charge.
GAMWORKS and the contractor, Mr. Sillah of BAFARA, were also commended for their exceptional work in delivering the project on schedule and to a high standard.
This new health centre is a significant step forward in the government’s mission to provide accessible and modern healthcare facilities to all Gambians, particularly those in rural areas.
