Stabbing-Crime-Scene

Gambiaj.com – (BRUFUT, The Gambia) – Residents of Brufut Heights are in shock following the tragic death of Ruben Andrews (63), a former employee of Standard Chartered Bank, who was reportedly killed at his residence on Monday.

Details surrounding Andrews’ death remain unclear. However, the police confirms that it is a suspected murder after Ruben Andrews was found motionless by his wife, Victoria Andrew, upon returning home at 1700hrs on Monday.

According to Kerr Fatou News Media, the family’s watchman and housemaid—both Sierra Leonean nationals—were absent from the scene, raising further suspicion. The watchman’s phone was switched off and he was nowhere to be found, although his shoes were discovered inside the house. The housemaid was also missing and had not reported to work on the day of the incident.

Police investigators reportedly arrived at the crime scene at 18:13hrs. Upon inspection, Andrews’ wife informed authorities that their closet had been ransacked, and various valuable items were missing, including two laptops (one old and one new), three mobile phones, foreign currency, an envelope containing Gambian Dalasi, and a wallet with Dalasi and CFA notes.

Further investigation revealed that Andrews had been with both the watchman and housemaid earlier in the day. However, when his wife returned home, neither of them was present. A ladder was found at the scene, believed to have been used by the perpetrators to access the second floor. Additionally, a cutlass was discovered on a patch of Bahama grass outside, and a blue rope—used to tie Andrews’ hands and legs—was found to be identical to another rope in the watchman’s quarters.

In a further twist, the housemaid sent a message to Andrews’ wife at 18:42hrs, resigning from her job and claiming that she had been having problems with her employer. CCTV footage reportedly showed both the watchman and the housemaid within the compound earlier in the morning.

Following the discovery, Andrews’ body was evacuated to Ndemban Clinic, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. His remains were later transferred to the EFSTH Mortuary in Banjul. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.

However, the news has left the community in mourning, with many expressing sadness over the loss of a well-respected member of their neighborhood.

As speculation grows, calls for a thorough investigation have intensified, with residents urging law enforcement to swiftly uncover the truth behind the tragedy.

Until more details emerge, the community remains on edge, grappling with uncertainty and grief over the shocking incident.
