Councilor Abdoulie Jammeh of the Brufut ward has been released by the police this Friday afternoon on self-bail after being held in custody at the Banjul police headquarters. Jammeh expressed gratitude to his coworkers for their support, unity, and strength upon his journey home after his release.

More than seven Brikama Area Council (BAC) employees, previously suspended, are to return to work immediately, under a directive from the Local Government Service Commission. The council initially suspended these individuals on suspicion of stifling council revenue, but the Commission’s investigation revealed no wrongdoing on their part.
The police have released all of the Brikama area councilors on self-bail this evening, except for the Councilor of Brufut Ward, Hon. Abdoulie Jammeh, who remains in arrest at the Anti-crime Unit in Banjulinding.
In essence, the Ministry completely supports the suspended Chief Executive Officer and Director of Finance, while arguing that the change of signatories to the Brikama Area Council’s accounts is clearly in violation of applicable legislative provisions.
