Transitional Justice – U.S State Department Hails Gambia, Ask for More

Beth Van Schaack, the United States Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice at the Office of Global Criminal Justice, issued a statement applauding The Gambia’s recent progress in implementing some critical steps of the transitional Justice program. Ambassador Beth Van Schaack was in Banjul recently and met with Chief Justice Hassan Jallow.

Inquest – Pregnant Gambian Women Coerced Guinea Pigs in Pfizer’s RSV Vaccine Trial

Pregnant women, including some Gambians, have been involved in clinical trials for Pfizer’s maternal respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine since 2019. Nevertheless, a study conducted by the British weekly peer-reviewed medical journal BMJ has shown that many of the trial participants were not informed by Pfizer about the nature of the vaccine they were vaccinated against, and that the trial of a comparable GSK vaccine was halted due to safety concerns regarding preterm birth.

Converted To Islam in The Gambia, Isis Briton Member Sentenced to 8 Years

A British who converted to Islam in The Gambia was on Monday jailed for eight years for a string of terror offenses including possession of a firearm and funding terrorism. British spies once believed that Aine Davis, also known as Aine Rodrigues, was the fourth member of the ISIS ‘Beatles’, a group of British jihadists who tortured and killed hostages in Syria.
