The Chief of Defense Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has conveyed the desire of the military command to build an armed force that is renowned for its professionalism, integrity, and exceptional capabilities. Major General Mamat O. Cham expressed gratitude to all his troops for their dedication to safeguarding national boundaries and independence.
According to Gen. Cham, the Gambia Armed Forces is committed to fostering an environment of merit, welfare, and patriotism by prioritizing fair and transparent evaluation processes for selection, education, assignment, and promotion, ensuring promotions align with Republican ideals and merit-based preference.
Major General Mamat O. Cham said the troops’ loyalty and efforts have strengthened the bond with Gambian citizens, presenting the armed forces as a unified entity serving the populace and promoting security sector reform.
The leader of the armed forces said his command is committed to enhancing the welfare of the military personnel to maintain a strong and cohesive force that values loyalty and patriotism.
