Ebrima Colley has made history in the UEFA Champions League! The Young Boys Bern player scored during his team’s match against RB Leipzig.
The 23-year-old Gambian is currently on loan at Atalanta in Switzerland. He was given the opportunity to participate in the Champions League groups, a competition in which he scored and therefore made history.
Ebrima Colley scored for RB Leipzig against Young Boys in the 53rd minute. At the moment, he got a very fine pass from Nsame, and the Gambian player scored with a shot to the right of the home goalkeeper, Peter Gulacsi.
With this accomplishment, the young footballer became the first Gambian to score in the UEFA Champions League. The Gambia, the country of the Young Boys striker, became the 108th nation to score in the competition.
Colley has another reason to be delighted besides scoring this goal. His squad has qualified for the Europa League, as Red Star Belgrade could no longer overtake them in the standings.
Before the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, here is the position in Group G:
- Manchester City: 15 points
- RB Leipzig: 9 points
- Young Boys: 4 points
- Red Star Belgrade: 1 point
