Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The national broadcaster, GRTS, welcomes Charles M Camara as its new board chairman, taking over from Nenneh MacDouall-Gaye, who recently transitioned to the role of chairperson at the Access to Information Commission.
Mr. Camara, a seasoned economist and public servant, was appointed to the position by President Adama Barrow following a recruitment process led by the State-Owned Enterprise Commission to identify a suitable candidate for the role. Previously, he served as the Deputy Ambassador of The Gambia in Cuba, a position that highlighted his diplomatic expertise in addition to his extensive experience across various sectors.
With a career that spans ministries and organizations including Finance, Natural Resources, Local Government, and the Office of the President, Mr. Camara brings a wealth of knowledge and administrative acumen to his new position. He has also contributed to projects with international bodies like the FAO, UNICEF, and the British High Commission, adding a global perspective to his national experience.

His diverse experience, particularly in economic management and public administration, is expected to contribute to strategic developments at GRTS, which has served as a key media institution in Gambian society.
The transition follows the departure of Nenneh MacDouall-Gaye, who was recently appointed chairperson of the Access to Information Commission.
