China Reaffirms Strategic Partnership with OIC, Calls for Action on Israel-Palestine Conflict

Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – At the 15th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Banjul, Gambia, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Zheng Jianbang, represented China as a special envoy of Chinese leadership. President Adama Barrow extended the invitation to Zheng Jianbang, highlighting the importance of China’s relationship with the OIC and Islamic countries.

In a congratulatory message to the opening of the summit, the Chinese leadership emphasized the strategic significance of its relationship with the OIC and Islamic nations. The message underscored the longstanding friendship and partnership between China and Islamic countries, noting their support for each other on matters of core interests and major concerns.

China and Islamic nations have a history of fruitful practical cooperation, serving as a model for South-South cooperation. The message emphasized the need for enhanced strategic communication and the cultivation of new cooperation initiatives between China and the OIC.

Regarding current global issues, the message stressed the pressing nature of the Israel-Palestine conflict. It called for immediate action to address the conflict, emphasizing the need to uphold United Nations resolutions, including promoting a cease-fire and working towards a two-state solution.

Furthermore, the message highlighted the importance of strengthening the solidarity and coordination of developing countries. It emphasized the need to uphold true multilateralism and safeguard the common interests of developing nations.

The visit and message from China reaffirm the country’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the OIC and Islamic nations, with a focus on promoting peace, development, and cooperation on the global stage.
