Gambiaj.com – SHENYANG, China – The 22nd group of Chinese medical personnel bound for Gambia, and the seventh such group from Liaoning province, held a departure ceremony on Sunday. This team is set to undertake a one-year medical assistance mission in Banjul, the capital of the Republic of Gambia, following an invitation from the Gambian government.
The Health Commission of Liaoning province played a crucial role in coordinating and completing the formation of the team in February. Following their selection, the team members underwent a rigorous three-month pre-departure training program to ensure they are fully prepared for their mission.
The team consists of ten medical professionals, jointly selected from nine prestigious units. These include affiliated hospitals of China Medical University, Dalian Medical University, and Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Additional selections came from Liaoning Provincial People’s Hospital, Dalian Women and Children’s Medical Group, and the University of Science and Technology Liaoning.
Liaoning has a long history of international medical assistance, having dispatched a total of 99 groups of medical personnel, comprising 2,375 individuals, to various countries since 1966. This ongoing commitment underscores the province’s dedication to global health and humanitarian efforts.
