Gambiaj.com – (BEIJING) – Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of congratulations at the onset of the 15th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, The Gambia.
President Xi expressed his hopes for the summit to enhance Islamic brotherhood and cooperation, contributing to global peace and development. He reiterated China’s dedication to strengthening ties with Islamic nations and collaborating on global challenges.
The People’s Republic of China’s support for the summit includes a $50 million grant towards the construction of the Sir Dawda International Conference Center, as reported by Yankuba Dibba, Chief Executive Officer of the OIC Gambia Secretariat. Additionally, the Chinese Ambassador in Banjul has provided over two million dalasis to GRTS for the acquisition of standard cameras for the summit, among other assistance efforts to support The Gambia in hosting the conference.
Zheng Jianbang, the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Special Representative of President Xi Jinping, is currently in The Gambia from May 4–5, representing the Chinese government at the summit.
