Chinese Vice Chairman to Attend OIC Summit in Gambia, Strengthening Ties with African Nations

Gambiaj.com – (BEIJING) – In a move to strengthen ties with African and Muslim nations, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Special Representative and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Zheng Jianbang, will be traveling to Gambia from May 4 to 5.

This visit comes at the invitation of Gambian President Adama Barrow and will include attendance at the 15th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Banjul.

This visit underscores China’s commitment to enhancing its relationship with African countries, particularly within the framework of the OIC. The OIC summit provides an important platform for discussing key issues facing the Islamic world, including political, economic, and social challenges.

China’s presence at the summit signifies its growing engagement with OIC member states and its support for multilateralism in addressing global issues. It also highlights the importance China places on its relationship with the Gambia and its interest in deepening cooperation with African nations.
