CMA CGM to Increase Tariffs of Gambia Bound Container Shipments

CMA-CGM-Jean-Mermoz

Gambiaj.com – (MARSEILLE, France) – CMA CGM, the French carrier, has notified its customers about the implementation of a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for container shipments originating from Europe to The Gambia. The PSS, effective from 15 June 2024 until further notice, will impact various regions and types of cargo.

The implementation of these surcharges indicates an additional cost for businesses and individuals importing goods into The Gambia using CMA CGM containers. Such surcharges are typically implemented by shipping companies to cope with increased demand or operational costs during peak seasons, aiming to maintain service levels and profitability.

For shipments originating from North Europe (including Baltic & Scandinavia), West Mediterranean, Adriatic, North Africa, Greece, Cyprus, Malta & Syria, destined to The Gambia, a PSS of US$522 per container will apply to dry cargo, payable with freight.

A separate PSS of US$530 per container, payable with freight, will apply to shipments originating from the UK and destined for The Gambia, affecting dry cargo.

Additionally, shipments originating from Turkey, Egypt Med & Lebanon, and destined to The Gambia, will be subject to a PSS of US$600 per container for dry cargo, payable with freight.

It is therefore advised to consider these surcharges when planning shipments to The Gambia to avoid unexpected costs and delays.
