Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The civil lawsuit filed by GACH Global Trading against Kaddijatou Kebbeh and Saikou Drammeh resumed on Monday before Justice Jaiteh at the High Court in Banjul, with the plaintiff’s CEO, Dr. Abubakary Jawara, undergoing cross-examination by defense counsel Badou S. Conteh.

Jawara is seeking over D58 million and $221,000 in allegedly misappropriated funds. During cross-examination, defense counsel confronted him with a video recording from an earlier court session in which Jawara was heard saying, “It may be my money.

Conteh pressed him to confirm the statement, but Jawara insisted it had been taken out of context, stating that he had conducted further checks before drawing any conclusions.

Attempts by the defense to introduce additional documents from previous proceedings were met with objections from plaintiff’s counsel, Ida Drammeh, and from K. Jallow, representing the second defendant.

The court advised Conteh to follow the proper procedure for tendering documents.

Conteh further questioned Jawara about his business background and operations. Jawara confirmed that he has led GACH Global since 1986, engaging in both importation and local production.

He also acknowledged signing an agreement with Gam Petroleum, previously admitted as Exhibit P1, which identified GTBank as the payment destination. However, he asserted that the disputed funds arose from separate transactions.

A tense moment arose when the defense asked about the nature of Jawara’s relationship with the first defendant, Kaddijatou Kebbeh, suggesting a romantic connection. The plaintiff’s counsel objected immediately.

Justice Jaiteh initially sustained the objection but later permitted a reframed question, to which Jawara firmly denied any such relationship.

The defense also raised a past criminal case involving the same parties. Jawara admitted to testifying as a prosecution witness and confirmed that the accused were acquitted. When asked whether that ruling invalidated his current claims, he retorted, “That’s your opinion.”

The case was adjourned to October 12, 2025.
