Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR, Senegal) – Nabou Léye, a dancer who had been held on remand since August 28 under suspicion of criminal associations and complicity in the grisly double murder at Pikine Technopole, has been granted bail. The decision, issued by the investigating judge on Thursday, followed a request for provisional release filed by her legal team, including lawyers Me Souleymane Ndéné Ndiaye, Me Guédel Ndiaye, and Associates.
An authorized source close to the case confirmed Léye’s release, asserting that there was no direct evidence linking her to the brutal killings of Aziz Dabala and Waly. “Despite all the fables that were told in this file, it was empty as far as it concerned Nabou Léye. No one implicated her, and no evidence against her appears in the file. The judge took responsibility to draw the consequences of this,” stated the source.
The double homicide, which sent shockwaves across Senegal, saw a total of seven arrests as authorities deepened their investigation into what they deemed a “barbaric murder.”
Although Léye’s release suggests that her involvement may be inconclusive, her actions around the time of the murders drew significant scrutiny. Investigators discovered that Léye made a curious phone call to an individual named Diaw shortly after the murders, and geolocation data hinted that she may have been near the crime scene.
Authorities initially suspected that Léye played a role in “delivering” Dabala to his killers before pretending to be shocked upon discovering his body. Records show that she had been in contact with the alleged perpetrators up until the early morning on the day of the crime, adding layers of suspicion to her initial arrest.
With Léye now out on bail, the case remains far from closed. Further proceedings are anticipated as investigators continue to probe her potential connections and involvement in the horrific crime, aiming to provide more answers to a case that has gripped the nation.
