Driver Remanded for Causing Death of Three Arezki Road Construction Workers

Aniru Sanyang, a native of Bakau New Town, has been remanded at the State Central Prison (Mile 2) for causing the death of three Arezki road construction workers at Wullinkama Junction. Sanyang is charged with a rash or negligent act causing the death of Sulayman Camara, a Bissau Guinean, and two Senegalese nationals, Abdou Jobe and Assan Jobe.

According to Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Cadet Assistant Superintendent Binta Njie, the fatal accident occurred when Sanyang, driving a Toyota Pick-Up with license plate number BJL 6228 P, attempted to pick up his phone which had fallen in the vehicle while driving.

As a result, he ran over the three victims, causing their immediate death. Others sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital.

The case has been referred to the high court, and post-mortem examinations have been conducted on all the bodies.
