Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – The Drug Law Enforcement Agency The Gambia (DLEAG) has made significant arrests in recent days, targeting individuals suspected of drug trafficking.
42-year-old Ebrima Bass, a resident of Kololi, was arrested by the Mandinaba DLEAG station on April 23, 2024, at around 18:32 GMT. Bass was found in possession of quantities of controlled drugs concealed in a transparent nylon bag placed inside a multicolor nylon bag.
In a separate incident on the same day, 27-year-old Abdoulie Nyassi, a Senegalese residing in Banjul, was arrested by the Banjul DLEAG at around 14:25 GMT. Nyassi was found with wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white papers inside a cigarette packet.
On April 24, 2024, at around 18:15 GMT, 24-year-old Alieu Sarr, an electrician from Farato, was arrested by the Kanifing DLEAG station. Sarr was found with 38 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white papers inside a multicolor purse and under a cement block.
Also on April 24, 2024, at around 21:00 GMT, 40-year-old Morro Yaffa, a resident of Sutukoba Village, was arrested by the Fatoto DLEAG station. Yaffa was found with a big bundle and 104 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white and cement papers and inside a red and black Colo bag respectively.
Another suspect, Demba Jabai, a resident of Sutukoba, is currently at large but was arrested in absentia by the Fatoto DLEAG station on April 24, 2024, at around 22:00 GMT. Jabai was found with a big bundle and 143 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white and cement papers placed inside a multicolor nylon bag.
All the suspects are currently in custody, and further investigations are ongoing.
