Operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG) stationed at Amdalai border post have intercepted a Senegalese national attempting to smuggle three hundred and three (303) pills of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), also known as ecstasy, into the country. Ibrahim Cissokho, a 31-year-old Senegalese driver, was apprehended with the illicit drugs hidden in his underwear.
In a separate operation, Cherno Sabally, a 25-year-old security officer, was arrested in Nema Kunku with fifteen parcels of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white paper inside a multi-color nylon bag. Additionally, Ebrima Jallow, a 17-year-old resident of Nema Misira, was caught with seventeen wraps of suspected cannabis sativa hidden in white paper inside a black cross bag.
Francis Bundu, a 27-year-old Sierra Leonean residing in Brusubi Phase II, was arrested by the Anti Crime Unit of the Gambia Police Force with twenty sachets of suspected kush concealed in medical sachets. Furthermore, Salieu Bangura, a 19-year-old Sierra Leonean, and Mary Joseph, a 25-year-old Nigerian hairdresser, were arrested in Brikama Santo-su with twenty-five wraps of suspected kush concealed in white papers and placed inside medical sachets.
In other arrests, Modou Lamin Jawara, a 24-year-old Tanjeh Village resident, was apprehended with quantities of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in a multi-color nylon bag, while Abdoulie Tamba, 42, of Nema Kunku, and Modou Lamin Kujabi, 34, of Lamin Village, were arrested with two big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in cement paper inside a white nylon bag placed in the booth of a white Pajero vehicle.
Muhammed Sesay, a 25-year-old Sierra Leonean residing in Serrekunda, was arrested with twenty-two sachets of tramadol, a controlled drug, found in its original sachets. Additionally, Francis Messaquoi, 45, Rebecca Sesay, 28, and Hawa Kamara, 24, all Sierra Leoneans, were arrested with fifty-five sachets of tramadol, two wraps of suspected cannabis sativa, five wraps of suspected kush, and nine sachets of Ecstasy.
Yaya Jawo, a 27-year-old Brikama Jamisa resident, was arrested with four wraps and one smoking joint of suspected kush concealed in white papers. Finally, Silvester Kamara, 23, and Sia Kanu, 22, both Sierra Leoneans, were arrested with three sachets of suspected kush concealed in white papers in Jambanjelly Village.
The DLEAG has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug-related activities to law enforcement.
