Addy van den Krommenacker is in The Gambia to showcase his latest collection, “Out of Africa Revisited.” Since Monday, the craft is displayed at the Gambia International Fashion Week at the Conference Centre in Banjul, Gambia.
Addy van den Krommenacker collaborated with Gambian talented fashion student Youlty Ismaila Jallow from Gambia to create this eye-catching presentation. Youlty, who worked as an intern as well as a valuable team member, proudly debuted his first men’s collection at this prestigious Gambian fashion event.
The stories of Youlty Ismaila Jallow inspired the ‘Out of Africa Revisited’ collection, prompting Addy to reconsider his original theme from 2018. This resulted in a one-of-a-kind collection of materials and dresses from Addy’s previous works that were reused in his most recent designs, resulting in a long-lasting “green” collection.
The Gambia International Fashion Week aims to inspire young designers, promote creativity, and instill confidence in their ability to pursue new opportunities. As a special guest of honor, Addy van den Krommenacker played an important role during this inspiring event.
Addy expressed his creative delight in creating the collection and stated: “I had a lot of fun making this collection, and now that I’m in The Gambia, everything is falling into place. The collection is inspired by Gambia’s climate, culture, and roots. It’s incredible to see my designs on such beautiful African models, adding a unique and different dimension to the collection.”
Youlty Ismaila Jallow took the stage during the event to thank Addy for his mentorship and to praise the valuable lessons he has learned. Youlty is now based in Milan, where he pursues his love of fashion.
The guests present praised Addy’s “Out of Africa” collection and emphasized the unique blend of sustainability, cultural resonance and artistic genius that makes this collection so special.
