ECOWAS Boosts The Gambia’s Digital Future with Support Grant at OIC Summit

Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – On the sidelines of the 15th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Banjul, The Gambia, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has announced its offer to support The Gambia’s digital transformation through a grant. This grant, whose amount has not been disclosed, is part of ECOWAS’s ongoing efforts to promote digital transformation across West Africa.

The grant aims to enhance The Gambia’s digital infrastructure and governance, aligning with ECOWAS’s broader strategy to improve digital capabilities in its Member States. By investing in The Gambia’s digital infrastructure and governance, ECOWAS hopes to pave the way for increased connectivity, innovation, and economic development in the region.

Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, participated in the OIC conference, where this initiative was announced. This move demonstrates ECOWAS’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring that all Member States have the necessary tools and resources to thrive in the digital age.

With this initiative, ECOWAS is taking proactive steps to position West Africa as a leader in digital transformation on the continent, signaling a new era of digital growth and development for the region.
