Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – In a concerted effort to address the challenges faced by women at borders, a delegation recently engaged with border operatives and representatives of women’s groups. The discussions focused on the specific difficulties encountered by women, including harassment and limited mobility.
As part of these engagements, the delegation facilitated the issuance of the ECOWAS National Biometric Card to the women involved. This initiative aims to significantly reduce instances of harassment and improve the ease of movement for vulnerable individuals at the borders.
The issuance of the biometric cards represents a crucial step in enhancing security and ensuring the rights of women in border regions are respected. By providing these cards, ECOWAS aims to empower women, enabling them to travel more freely and safely within the region.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote gender equality and improve the overall border experience for women, ensuring their protection and support as they navigate cross-border activities.
