Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – Everton FC, commonly known as the Toffees, is reportedly evaluating two promising young footballers from The Gambia. Sellou Jeng and Tijan Colley, who play for Bakoteh United Academy and Bakoteh Football Club respectively, have been invited to train with Everton’s academy. This trial aims to assess their potential for winning contracts at Goodison Park.

The young duo’s trial with Everton is facilitated by agent Bakary Bojang, who also represents Yankuba Minteh. Minteh was a target for Everton earlier this summer, but he was ultimately sold by Newcastle United to Brighton for £33 million. Bojang has shared images of his presence at Everton’s Finch Farm training base, highlighting the significance of this opportunity for Jeng and Colley.

Over the past year, Everton has shown a proactive approach to strengthening their youth ranks. Last summer, they scouted former Chelsea striker Malik Mothershille, who eventually joined League One side Peterborough United. In January, the Toffees signed Kingsford Boakye, a former AC Milan forward, and in the current transfer window, they recruited Omari Benjamin, a striker from Arsenal.

Additionally, Everton has secured the talents of Braiden Graham and Ceiran Loney, who signed scholarship terms after joining from Linfield and Patrick Thistle, respectively. This consistent focus on youth development underscores Everton’s commitment to building a robust pipeline of future football stars.

As Jeng and Colley continue their trial period, their performances at Finch Farm will be crucial in determining whether they can secure a spot in Everton’s academy and possibly make a name for themselves in the competitive world of English football.
