Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR, Senegal) – Senegalese parliamentarian and mayor of Agnam, Farba Ngom, is set to appear before the investigating judge on Thursday, February 13, 2025, in connection with the high-profile 125 billion CFA franc case. Displaying confidence and determination, Ngom voluntarily presented himself at the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) on Monday to collect his summons, rather than wait for authorities to serve him.
“We were informed that our client was to receive a summons. We accompanied him to the DIC so that he could collect it,” said his lawyer, Me Doudou Ndoye, addressing the press. He affirmed that his client is fully prepared to respond to the judge’s inquiries.
However, Me Ndoye expressed concerns about the opacity surrounding the case. “I do not know the exact reasons for this summons. I am waiting to see what is really going on. We only hear rumors, and that is not normal in a democracy,” he said. Ngom, too, appeared to cast doubt on the allegations, stating, “I do not base my decision on words but on written documents. The snake that bites enters all houses.”
Ngom’s legal team argues that the case has been used to tarnish his reputation. “They are dragging an honorable citizen through the mud by demonizing him and sullying his reputation,” his lawyer remarked.
Beyond Ngom, the investigation extends to businessman Tahirou Sarr, who has also been summoned to appear before the judge on Thursday.
Sarr, known for his role in real estate civil companies (SCI), is suspected of financial dealings linked to the case. Other unnamed individuals, including officials from the domains and treasury departments, are reportedly under scrutiny.
As the hearing date approaches, speculation swirls around the details of the case, with observers closely watching how the proceedings will unfold.
