Gambiaj.com – (Busumbala, West Coast Region) – Tragedy struck in the early hours of today when a vehicle belonging to The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) was involved in a fatal road traffic accident at the “Njogu Bah” Junction in Busumbala.
The GAF has confirmed in a statement that the vehicle, bearing registration number GAF 53, collided with one Sainabou Gaye. Sadly, Ms. Gaye succumbed to her injuries as a result of the accident.
The officer commanding GAF Supply and Transport is currently at the Brikama Health Center, providing support and assistance to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
In response to the incident, the military police have been instructed to launch a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
The Chief of Defense Staff, along with officers and personnel of The Gambia Armed Forces, has expressed their deep regret and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. They offered prayers for the departed soul to find eternal peace and for Almighty God to grant the family the strength and fortitude to cope with their irreparable loss.
This incident will undoubtedly send shockwaves through the local community and raise questions about road safety in the area. As the military police proceed with their investigation, further details surrounding the circumstances of the accident are expected to emerge.
