Gambiaj.com – (KANIFING, The Gambia) – A fire broke out at the Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC) premises, engulfing and completely destroying over ten scrapped buses that had been sold to a local scrap dealer, Abdoulie Bojang.
According to early reports, the fire started while Bojang and his team were dismantling the buses to extract parts. During the process, an ignition occurred, quickly spreading through the scrapped vehicles and reducing them to ashes.
The cause of the fire has not yet been officially determined, but sources suggest that the dismantling process, which likely involved cutting tools, may have triggered the flames. There have been no reports of injuries.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the exact cause and assess any potential safety lapses.
The GTSC has yet to release an official statement regarding the fire.
More details are expected as investigations continue.
