Gambiaj.com – (Siffoe, The Gambia) – A joint operation by the Gambia Police Force (GPF), the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG), the State Intelligence Service (SIS), and other security agencies has resulted in the arrest of a 61-year-old foreign national at Siffoe Beach. The arrest was made on Wednesday following the discovery of alleged prohibited drugs and an unlicensed firearm.

The operation initially uncovered 10 wraps of cannabis in the suspect’s possession. Subsequent investigations led officers to the suspect’s residence, where additional contraband was seized. Authorities recovered more cannabis, a PT 111 G2 9mm pistol, two magazines, and 82 rounds of live ammunition.

The GPF has confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the scope of the suspect’s activities. Law enforcement has emphasized the importance of community vigilance in ensuring public safety, encouraging citizens to report any suspicious behavior.

This arrest underscores the commitment of The Gambia’s security forces to combating drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms, both of which pose significant risks to national security.

Further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
