According to the Basse Area Council’s communications officer, Muhammad Susso, a former employee who was suspected of engaging in fraudulent activity, has been finally taken into custody by the police today and is currently helping the law enforcement officers with their investigations.
The Basse Area Council alerted people in the area of possible fraudulent activities involving Muhammad Susso, one of their employees, earlier today.
Susso was suspended and is currently being investigated for allegedly collecting money from communities without following the correct council’s procedures.
Susso apparently carried on with these actions even after being suspended, until the Council found out about them again.
He was reported to police in Basse on Thursday, April 4, 2024, and then escaped.
The Council then warned taxpayers to be cautious and avoid dealings with Muhammed Susso or anyone claiming to collect revenue on the Council’s behalf without formal authorization.
Following Susso’s arrest, the council has assured the public that they take such allegations very seriously and are cooperating fully with the authorities to get to the bottom of the matter. Susso’s arrest sends a strong message that fraudulent behavior will not be tolerated within the council.
