Gambiaj.com – (FARAFENNI, The Gambia) – On Sunday, July 28, 2024, troops from the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) stationed at the 2 Infantry Battalion in Farafenni Barracks successfully intercepted two individuals allegedly transporting dismantled motorcycle parts. This interception occurred at a checkpoint strategically positioned between Posteh Kerr Ali and Posteh Kerr Ayib, near the Gambia-Senegal border.
The GAF personnel, while conducting routine checks, uncovered the suspects’ sophisticated modus operandi. The criminals would dismantle stolen motorcycles, motor vehicles, or other valuable items, distributing the parts among themselves. They then traveled separately, utilizing different means of transportation, with the intention of regrouping at a predetermined location. Once reunited, the criminals would reassemble the stolen items, change their appearance, and subsequently sell the reassembled products in the market.
Upon discovering the plot, the Commanding Officer of the 2 Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Ebrima I Krubally, ensured the apprehended culprits were handed over to the Gambia Police Force for further investigation and legal action.
This interception highlights the ongoing efforts of the Gambia Armed Forces to curb cross-border criminal activities and maintain security within the region. The collaboration between the GAF and the Gambia Police Force underscores the importance of joint operations in combating crime and ensuring the safety of the populace.
As investigations continue, the authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security personnel to help thwart criminal activities and maintain peace and order in the region.
