The Gambia’s Ambassador to India, Mustapha Jawara, recently visited the revered Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia in India to pay homage to the esteemed Sufi saint. Ambassador Jawara expressed awe at the beauty of the Dargah, noting that despite being in India for three years, he was unaware of the mausoleum’s existence within the bustling area of Nizamuddin.
In a conversation with Indian news agency ANI, Ambassador Jawara marveled at the preservation of culture at the Dargah, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. He expressed hope that the blessings of Ramadan would be upon all visitors to the Dargah.
Highlighting the deepening relations between India and The Gambia, Ambassador Jawara remarked on the opening of a new chapter, particularly in the spiritual journey shared by the two countries. He emphasized the unity of all Muslims, quoting the Sanskrit phrase, “Vasudeva Kutumbhkam,” which signifies the world as one family.
Ambassador Jawara also lauded the significant growth in the India-Gambia relationship over the past two years, attributing it to the generosity of the Indian government. He mentioned a recent donation of crucial health equipment, including dialysis machines and ultrasound machines, which he described as transformative for The Gambia’s health sector. The ambassador expressed sincere appreciation for the Indian government’s support and partnership.
The visit to Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia served not only as a gesture of respect and admiration but also as a symbol of the deepening ties and mutual respect between India and The Gambia.
