Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia ) – The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has warmly welcomed Captain Nabe M. Bangura, who recently returned home after successfully graduating as a Microbiologist and Laboratory Scientist from Gulhane Research and Teaching Hospital, one of the most prestigious universities in Ankara, Türkiye.
Captain Bangura, a dedicated member of the Armed Forces’ Medical Services, pursued Advanced Laboratory Methods in Microbiology and Parasitology under a Turkish government scholarship. His program ran from December 1, 2023, to December 1, 2024. His academic achievement adds to his already impressive credentials, including a Bachelor of Science in Medical Microbiology and Parasitology from Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara in Havana, Cuba.
Upon certification and confirmation by The Gambia’s Ministry of Health, Captain Bangura will assume the role of Principal Laboratory Scientist for the Armed Forces Medical Services. This marks a significant step in enhancing the military’s medical expertise, as he joins the ranks of highly trained professionals contributing to GAF’s health services.
Captain Bangura’s accomplishment is part of a broader initiative that has seen many Gambian military officers and soldiers receiving advanced training in various fields in Türkiye. Their achievements underscore the Armed Forces’ commitment to professional development and raising The Gambia’s flag high on the global stage.
In a statement, the GAF expressed immense pride in Captain Bangura and other officers who have recently completed their studies abroad. “The entire Armed Forces salutes and congratulates all the officers and soldiers who have returned home from their respective courses while raising the Gambian flag higher throughout the world. Ahooah to you all!” the statement read.
