The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) celebrated the graduation of 20 Officers and 12 Officer Cadets from a refresher training program on Wednesday, 3rd April 2024. The ceremony, held at the Gambia Armed Forces Training School (GAFTS) in Bakau, marked the successful completion of a four-week course designed to enhance the officers’ skills in planning and executing operations.
The training, which covered a range of topics including Military Leadership, Tactical Operations, and Orders and Extractions, aimed to equip the officers with the necessary knowledge for effective performance in their roles.
Throughout the course, guest lecturers from the University of The Gambia, the Center for Research, and ECOMIG shared their expertise with the participants.
Brigadier General Sait Njie, the Commander of the Gambia National Army, commended the officers for their dedication and successful completion of the training.
He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and hard work, stating that “Training is all what we need to do as a military force as this is what militaries all over the world do during peace time”.
The graduation ceremony was attended by the Commandant of GAFTS, the Turkish military adviser, representatives of the Battalion Commanders of 1 Infantry and Guards Battalions, and officers of GAFTS.
The participants were presented with certificates of completion, and the event concluded with a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
