Gambiaj.com – (NEW DELHI, India) – At the 19th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Conclave in New Delhi, India, The Gambia’s Vice President, H.E. Mohammed B.S. Jallow, highlighted the country’s focus on creating a business-friendly environment that promotes investment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth.
Under the theme “Creating One Future,” he emphasized the importance of enhancing ties with India, especially in key sectors like agriculture, healthcare, technology, and innovation.
VP Jallow noted that partnerships in technology transfer, capacity building, and healthcare management are essential to Gambia’s progress. He also stressed the significance of working together on environmental sustainability and youth empowerment to create more economic opportunities and address the digital divide.
He further pointed out that cultural exchanges and joint ventures could play a crucial role in strengthening connections between the people of both countries while also driving economic growth. In his closing remarks, VP Jallow affirmed that innovation and collaboration are key to The Gambia’s development on the global stage.
During the conclave, VP Jallow held discussions with several key Indian companies to explore potential partnerships. He met with Unitrans to discuss collaboration in solar transformers, vehicle parts, and mining equipment. The Gambia’s Minister for Petroleum and Energy presented areas where cooperation could align with the country’s energy roadmap.
The Vice President also met with the Lootah Group of Companies to explore affordable housing solutions for The Gambia’s upcoming housing scheme led by the Ministry of Lands. Discussions with Hari Fabtech focused on enhancing peanut oil processing for exports, which supports the government’s value addition strategy.
Additionally, talks with Kamani Engineering Corporation (KEC) centered on upgrading transmission lines to support The Gambia’s 150MW solar project, building on previous efforts through the OMVG.
These meetings are expected to strengthen The Gambia’s development efforts and deepen its ties with Indian industry leaders.
