Gambia DLEAG Report Hilights Concerns Over Rising Trafficking of Kush

Friday’s weekly report from the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG) has highlighted growing concerns over the selling and trafficking of Kush in the country. Several arrests were made in connection with the illegal possession of cannabis sativa and Kush, a potent strain of cannabis.

According to the report, on the 1st of March 2024, Adama Gomez, a 28-year-old resident of Brikama suba ward, was arrested by the Brikama DLEAG station with 46 wraps of suspected Kush concealed in white papers and placed under the counter at Francis’s bar.

Charles Kanga, a 23-year-old Sierre Leonean residing at Churchills town, was arrested by personnel of the Gambia Police Force Bakoteh station with 3 wraps of suspected Kush concealed in a transparent nylon bag.

Moreover, Foday Bangura, a 31-year-old Sierre Leonean residing at Kanifing South, was arrested by personnel of the Gambia Police Force Bakoteh station with 6 wraps of suspected Kush and 2 packets of tramadol concealed in a transparent nylon bag.

In a separate incident, Modou Lamin Sanyang, a 20-year-old resident of Sanyang Village, was arrested by the Brikama DLEAG station with 6 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa and 27 wraps of suspected Kush concealed in white paper inside a transparent nylon bag.

Gibril Touray, a 42-year-old Sierre Leonean, Amadou Keita, a 34-year-old, and Alagie Jeng, a 41-year-old, were jointly arrested by personnel of the Gambia Police Force Bakoteh station with 4 wraps and some quantities of suspected Kush concealed in a transparent nylon bag and placed in a brown blanket.

Furthermore, Musa Beyai, a 41-year-old resident of Abuko, was arrested by the Serrekunda DLEAG station with 70 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white papers inside a blue nylon bag placed inside a red color backpack.

According to the report, earlier on the 28th of February 2024, Foday Bangura, a 33-year-old Guinean, Buba Jammeh, an 18-year-old, and Yunusa Touray, a 32-year-old Bissau national, were arrested at Kartong by the Brikama DLEAG station. They were found in joint possession of 17 parcels and 108 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white papers inside a multicolor bag hidden inside a backpack.

Lastly, Alieu Manneh, a 24-year-old resident of Kartong, was arrested on the same day by the Brikama DLEAG station with 4 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white paper inside a blue and black color bag.

All the suspects are currently in custody, and further investigations are ongoing. The DLEAG has reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related crimes in The Gambia.
