Gambiaj.com – (KANIFING, The Gambia) – The Ministry of Works, Transport & Infrastructure has signed a contract worth over fifty-nine million Dalasis (D59.3M) with Krubally Construction Company for the construction of the Basse (URR) Governor’s Residence and Office Complex. The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Ministry’s complex in Kanifing.
The Permanent Secretary, Matar Ceesay, signed the contract on behalf of the Works Ministry. He stated that the project is part of the government’s initiative to provide decent and spacious offices and to decentralize standard government buildings across local government areas.
PS Ceesay congratulated Krubally Construction Company for their successful projects in the North Bank Region (NBR) and for successfully handing over completed works. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives, noting that they motivate government workers.
“We have worked with Krubally Construction Company on other projects in the past, and we are confident and hopeful that they will deliver and successfully hand over the project on time and within the allocated budget,” he said. He stressed the necessity for quality work and timely delivery, stating that these expectations will not be compromised.
According to PS Ceesay, the Gambia Government is eager to see the project implemented and handed over to the people of URR. The Ministry, he added, will continue to support the contractor to achieve the project’s goals.
“Construction comes with its ups and downs; however, engineering is about finding solid solutions to emerging problems,” he noted, assuring that the Ministry will support the contractor to ensure successful completion of the project.
The project, funded by the Gambia Government, is expected to be completed within two years from the signing date. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs, staff of the Ministry of Works, among others.
The Ministry of Works has recently constructed similar facilities for Governors in the Lower River and Central River Regions. The new office complex will serve as a government administrative office, while the residence will house government employees posted in the Upper River Region.
