Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – In Banjul, The Gambia, the preparatory meeting for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers has commenced, gathering senior officials from OIC member states. The meeting’s primary objective is to draft documents for the upcoming 15th Heads of State and Government Summit scheduled for May 4-5.
Under the theme “Enhancing unity and solidarity through dialogue on sustainable development,” the meeting aims to address various challenges faced by the Islamic world, with a particular focus on the situation in Palestine and Gaza.
Key documents to be discussed and approved by the Council of Foreign Ministers include a draft of the Palestinian resolution, the Banjul statement, and the final document. These documents will be pivotal in shaping the discussions and outcomes of the upcoming summit.
The meeting of the OIC Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs is scheduled to span four days to allow for thorough deliberations on the draft resolutions. Several delegations have already arrived in Banjul to participate in these discussions.
At the conclusion of the 15th OIC summit, The Gambia is set to assume the presidency of the Organization, adding significance to the current meeting and its outcomes.
The summit is poised to provide a platform for member states to reaffirm their commitment to unity, solidarity, and sustainable development within the Islamic world.
