Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) — The Gambia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Security (MoALFS) recently unveiled two groundbreaking digital platforms — the GIRAV Project E-extension Agricultural Digital Platform and the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Digital Platform.
The two platforms are designed to support farmers, entrepreneurs, and business owners with vital resources, fostering collaboration and efficiency across the agricultural and business landscapes. By granting users direct access to up-to-date information and expert advice, the GIRAV Project E-extension platform aims to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability, empowering farmers with the tools needed to improve yields and adopt best practices in farming.
The launch event, held at the Ministry’s conference hall in Quadrangle, Banjul, drew a gathering of government officials, private sector representatives, and industry stakeholders, all united in supporting the nation’s push towards agricultural modernization and enhanced economic development.
Meanwhile, the GCCI Digital Platform represents a leap forward for local businesses. The platform will revolutionize GCCI’s operations by streamlining membership management, enabling online registration for events, and enhancing the experience of Gambia’s annual Trade Fair. Entrepreneurs and businesses will benefit from a more efficient process for booth reservations, membership renewals, and even digital payment options, offering a seamless experience that aligns with modern demands.
“The launch of these platforms marks an important step toward digital transformation in both agriculture and commerce,” a MoALFS spokesperson noted. “We are committed to fostering innovation, promoting food security, and creating an environment where businesses can thrive.”
The tool allows farmers to communicate directly with dedicated DOA call center workers in English, Mandinka, Wollof, and Pulaarr using dynamic visual SMS and voice. The platform will be used to raise awareness, increase the flow of information and agricultural knowledge, and give different agricultural stakeholders better access to data, information, and knowledge.
For the GCCI, the digital platform also promises to transform event management, beginning with the well-known annual Trade Fair, which serves as a major event for local and international businesses to connect and showcase their products. With features like online booth reservations and a streamlined membership database, the GCCI platform is set to enhance the visibility and growth of Gambian businesses in the regional and global marketplaces.
Both platforms represent significant milestones in The Gambia’s drive toward economic diversification, digital innovation, and food security. By modernizing agriculture and business management through technology, the initiatives contribute to a larger vision of sustainable development and economic resilience for The Gambia.
