The Ministry of Information in The Gambia has issued a statement refuting false reports circulating online regarding the repurposing of a water tank in Foni Kansala. The ministry clarified that these reports are misleading and inaccurate.
The information being debunked by the Government of The Gambia alleges that the government of President Adama Barrow stole a water tank from Foni Kansala Community in Kanilai to replace a broken one at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital therefore depriving 60,000 people of their water supplies.
In the press release, the ministry of Information assured the general public that the government will provide accurate information about the unutilized water tank in Foni Kansala as soon as possible. The government emphasized its commitment to upholding the principles of equality and inclusion, stating that all individuals should be treated with equal dignity and respect regardless of gender, region, or religion.
The ministry also highlighted that the individuals spreading these false reports are doing so with malicious intent, aiming to misinform the public. The government urged the public to disregard such misinformation and assured that efforts are being made to address the issue and provide accurate information.
The government of The Gambia reiterated its commitment to transparency and urged the public to verify information from official sources before believing and spreading any news or reports.
