Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has clarified reports circulating on social media suggesting that a woman was summoned for questioning by the police at Brusubi or Wellingara stations over her remarks online. In a statement issued on Saturday, the GPF categorically denied issuing any such summons or official request.

According to the statement, the police have not been involved in any questioning of the alleged individual and urged anyone affected by similar claims to promptly report such incidents to the nearest police station.

The move, the GPF stated, will enable investigations to identify and address any cases of impersonation by individuals falsely claiming to be police officers.

The GPF advises the individual concerned, or anyone else affected by similar incidents, to report the matter at any police station. This will enable the police to investigate and identify any person(s) potentially impersonating as police officers,” the statement emphasized.

The GPF reiterated its unwavering commitment to upholding human rights and maintaining professionalism in the execution of its duties.

The statement also reassured the public of the institution’s dedication to transparency and fairness while discouraging the spread of unverified claims that could undermine public trust.

As the GPF investigates the source of these allegations, the public is encouraged to exercise caution in interpreting information shared on social media and to verify such reports through official channels.
