The Armed Forces of the Gambia and Senegal have established a bipartite defense committee and signed an agreement to combat cross-border crimes in both countries on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at a seminar held in the Senegalese region of Casamance, Ziguinchor.
The signing ceremony was jointly officiated by Brig Gen. Fulgence Ndour, Deputy Chief of General Staff, Senegalese Army, and Brig Gen. Ousman Gomez, Deputy Chief of Defense Staff, Gambia Armed Forces.
The convergence followed the meeting of the two Chiefs of General Staff of both countries and marked the beginning of a monumental collaboration with the establishment of a bipartite defense committee.
The meeting also decided on the setting up of a combined and parallel mixed patrol and joint operations in the military zones of both countries.
