Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – President Adama Barrow has made notable changes to his cabinet after he accepted, today, the resignation of Honourable Haddy Jatou Sey, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education. Minister Sey stepped down, citing personal reasons. The President expressed his gratitude for her dedicated service and extended his best wishes for her future endeavors.
Earlier today, the news broke that Haddy Jatou Sey resigned from her position less than six months after assuming office. Her resignation reportedly stems from her refusal to renounce her U.S. citizenship, according to sources close to the matter.
In a related move, President Barrow relieved Ousman Bah, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, of his duties. This decision has prompted widespread speculation regarding the reasons behind his dismissal, with some pointing to potential issues such as dual nationality.
To ensure continuity in governance, President Barrow has appointed interim overseers for the affected ministries. Professor Pierre Gomez, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Technology, will temporarily oversee the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. Meanwhile, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, the Minister of Information, will manage the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy until further notice.
The reshuffle has sparked discussions among political analysts and the public alike, with many eager to understand the underlying reasons for these changes and their potential impact on the administration’s agenda.
