Gambiaj.com – (NEW DELHI, India) – On Friday, 30 Gambian civil servants successfully concluded a two-week mid-career training program in New Delhi, marking the fourth such collaboration between India and The Gambia. This training was part of the ongoing implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Personnel Administration and Governance, which spans from 2019 to 2024.
Facilitated by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the training focused on various aspects of governance and administration. Gambian participants presented sessions on Digital Gambia, Women Empowerment, and the Social Welfare Scheme in Gambia, which were well-received by the delegates. Notably, Group Two’s presentation on women’s empowerment earned first place for its comprehensive research and innovative solutions, sparking meaningful discussions on enhancing women’s roles in Gambian society.
Dr. A.P. Singh, Associate Professor and Course Coordinator, highlighted the course’s success, noting that the tailored program and interactions with mentors provided invaluable learning experiences for the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) from Gambia. He expressed eagerness for future collaborations, emphasizing the importance of knowledge sharing and fostering friendships.
The Gambia’s Ambassador to India, Mustapha Jawara, praised the NCGG training program for its role in facilitating experience and knowledge exchange. He underscored the significance of such initiatives in strengthening bilateral relations and highlighted the potential benefits of adopting Indian governance models to enhance public service delivery in The Gambia.
During the valedictory session, Shri V. Srinivas, IAS, Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and Director General of NCGG, congratulated the participants and lauded the successful implementation of the India-Gambia MoU on Personnel Administration and Governance. He emphasized the importance of mutual knowledge exchange in driving governance improvements and development in both countries.
The New Delhi training program was hailed as a great success, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing between India and The Gambia.
