Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – Her Excellency Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay, The Gambia’s Ambassador to South Africa, is set to deliver a keynote address at the prestigious DEVAC HYDROGEN-H INDABA 2025, an international summit focused on unlocking Africa’s green hydrogen potential. The high-level forum will take place from September 17–18, 2025, at the NH Sandton Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Ambassador Jahumpa Ceesay will represent The Gambia as one of the key voices advocating for Africa’s leadership in the green hydrogen transition. Her participation signals The Gambia’s growing interest in renewable energy investments and its ambition to be part of the continent’s green industrial revolution.
Organized by DEVAC and Invest Africa, the Hydrogen-H Indaba 2025 is expected to convene more than 350 experts and decision-makers from across the African hydrogen value chain, including government officials, private investors, technology providers, and energy regulators.
The summit will focus on critical issues such as hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and usage—particularly in industries like power generation, heavy transport, and manufacturing.
The Gambia has recently emerged as one of the African countries exploring the hydrogen energy space. According to recent developments, the country has begun engaging stakeholders to assess its green hydrogen market potential, building on its broader climate adaptation and clean energy goals.
With abundant sunlight and a growing appetite for sustainable infrastructure, The Gambia is well-positioned to pilot innovative hydrogen projects and forge public-private partnerships in the sector.
Speaking ahead of the summit, DEVAC organizers emphasized Africa’s unique opportunity to lead the global green hydrogen movement. “Green hydrogen offers Africa a pathway to economic transformation, energy independence, and climate resilience,” said a spokesperson. “This summit aims to unlock investment and innovation that can position the continent as a key global supplier.”
Ambassador Jahumpa Ceesay’s participation is expected to highlight The Gambia’s commitment to regional collaboration and its openness to international investment in clean energy technologies. Her address will explore how smaller African economies can leverage hydrogen development to drive inclusive growth, create jobs, and reduce carbon emissions.
The DEVAC HYDROGEN-H INDABA 2025 comes at a crucial time as African nations accelerate efforts to diversify their energy sources and attract climate financing. For The Gambia, this represents both a diplomatic and economic opportunity to cement its role in the continent’s emerging green energy narrative.
